Fitness Energy Packed Recipes: Healthy & Quick “Pick Me Ups” – By Dylan Conrad; Your Personal Trainer in West Los Angeles

I think it’s safe to say energy drinks like 5 hour energy, monster, and red bull are bad for your body for various reasons including high sugar content, extremely high levels of caffeine, and artificial ingredients. They may be the death of you, as 5 hour energy was linked to several deaths in 2012. Life happens, and sometimes we need that extra boost of energy to get us through the day. So what should you substitute for these toxic beverages? Your diet may be the reason you’re hitting the wall, so clean that up first. But, if that doesn’t help your energy levels (lack of sleep, hangover, or just a very intense day) here are 2 healthy smoothies you can use on the go to pick yourself back up.

1 1/2 cups Coconut milk

5 ice cubes

Blend until all ingredients are mixed together thoroughly- there’s nothing worse than eating a chunk of frozen spinach.
